About Dr. Josh Gibson

Dr. Josh Gibson is a seasoned executive and life coach who has dedicated his career to guiding others toward personal fulfillment and professional success. Drawing upon more than 25 years of training and experience in psychiatry and management consulting, Dr. Gibson brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and corporate insight to his coaching practice. Most recently, he spent over four years at Pilot44, a leading disruptive innovation studio in San Francisco, where he managed a portfolio of digital transformation initiatives in the medical and consumer sectors.

Dr. Gibson’s journey in medicine began at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he earned his M.D. and was honored with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation prize for humanism in medicine. He later completed his psychiatry residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), during which he received the American Medical Association Foundation 2000 Leadership Award and the Alexander Simon Award for teaching. His early career included roles as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, an Editorial Board Member of Web M&M, and a Committee Chair with the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry.

Inspired by the pivotal role higher education played in shaping his own life, Dr. Gibson founded the Josh Gibson MD Grant to help students overcome financial barriers and pursue their goals. This $1,000 scholarship reflects his unwavering belief in human potential and his commitment to “pay it forward” by empowering the next generation of innovators, leaders, and visionaries. Dr. Gibson’s hope is that scholarship recipients, once they achieve their own success, will champion the same spirit of generosity and invest in others’ aspirations.

Today, Dr. Gibson resides in San Rafael, California, with his wife and two children. When he’s not coaching clients or working on new innovation projects, he enjoys running, playing basketball, and listening to music. Above all, he remains dedicated to helping people thrive—whether it’s through his executive coaching or by nurturing promising minds through the Josh Gibson MD Grant.
